This elegant drum by Abubakari Alhassan exudes the power of its strong beat. It is known as Kpalogo, and it is used to set the rhythm of the dance of the same name, usually performed by the Ga and Ewe people of Ghana. The black drum is carved from wawa wood featuring a leather drumhead that is hold taught with strings extending to five small extensions.
