Wood sculpture, 'Ganesha on the Conch Throne'
Powerful Lord Ganesha poses with his hand raised in prayer in a hand-carved sculpture from India's Suresh Garg. He portrays the beloved deity holding his favorite dessert as well as two lotus blossoms. Ganesha is known as the Remover of Obstacles and he is thus sitting on a conch. According to Hindu beliefs, the sound of a conch is said to dispel negativity and it is usually blown at the beginning of important ceremonies.
