This mask of powerful elegance celebrates the artistic traditions of Ghana's Akan people. Eric Danquah carves the sese wood mask by hand and decorates it with embossed aluminum plates that resemble tribal scarifications. Two golden eagles appear on the temples as Danquah explains this mask is intended to show appreciation or thanksgiving, ndaase in the Akan language.
