Zapotec wool runner, 'Stars on Earth' (1.5x6)
Stars descend from the sky to illuminate the fertile earth. Neatly woven by hand in virgin wool, the elegant motifs grace a traditional Mexican rug. Gregorio Ruiz Lopez works on the handloom to create designs his father taught him, this one named "Jaula de Estrellas" in Spanish. Because each rug is individually woven, measurements could vary +/- 5 cm.
